STEP THREE: Build Your Ask
The ask is the most important part of fundraising. It is historically true that most people don’t give money because they are not asked! Yet, most people are also afraid of asking others for money-which is understandable. In our culture, money is a private affair, and we often grow up with negative stereotypes about money. This is very understandable, and I hate being asked for money.

But I love being asked to help.
You probably do too. Remember that first and foremost you are asking people to help orphans in need. So, your ask really is:

Will you help me raise money to protect orphans from a life of abuse and abandonment?

That sounds a lot better than, "Would you give me some money?" The ask needs to invite the donor to become part of the cause.
